Parksville, B.C. -Youth Residential Worker
The qualified applicant will be willing and able to work evenings and weekends. This person will have the desire to make a difference in the lives of children and youth, ages 7-18 years old. The new team member will work within a larger interdisciplinary team to provide a program which will include recreation, life skills, social opportunities, regulation skills, may include some personal care and other opportunities that are set out by the team. If you feel you have the qualifications, skill set and desire to make a difference in a child or youth's life, we look forward to hearing from you. These youth could present with the following; non-verbal, personal care needs, aggressive behaviour, aggressive language, possibility of elopement, attachment disorder, could have had some type of trauma in their lives which manifests as behaviours to name a few. If you have worked with vulnerable youth and/or adults, hold a CYC, CSW, ECE with a special needs certificate, or relevant certificates, diplomas or degrees OR are passionate about supporting youth and wish to make a difference, we would love to talk with you.
The qualified team member will be working as a part of a larger interdisciplinary team. These are some of the responsibilities and duties that will be required;
  • Some personal care needs
  • Working 1-1 with the child/youth in their residential home,
  • Working with the youth program or within the community at large,
  • Providing a recreational based program that allows the child/youth to explore safely
  • Communicating with the team through documentation, meetings and log books,
  • Promote health and safety at all times
  • Have patience and understanding of the child/youth and the situation

The qualified applicant will be able to provide the following:
  • Must be 19 years of age 
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Ministry of Child and Family Development Screening, Employer will file
  • Drivers Abstract
  • RCMP Criminal Record Check
  • Criminal Records Review Act Schedule A -Employer will file
  • Current Ministry of Health Approved First Aid Certificate including CPR
  • Dr. Letter
  • TB Screen
  • Education and/or experience working with youth at risk, children with developmental disabilities or children with challenging behaviours. (CYC,CSW, ECE- special needs)
  • Independent work is required
  • Be able to work in stressful environment
  • Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills

 Nanaimo, B.C. - Residential Adult Support Worker
The new team members must be very flexible in their availability, be able to work evenings and weekends a must. We are looking for team members who are motivated, work well as a team but can also work alone, and can provide the following:
  • A valid driver's license
  • A clean driver's abstract- A clean Criminal record check
  • Have a TB screen test
  • Have a valid first aid certificate
  • Have a food safe certificate- Have kitchen skills
  • Some computer skills
  • Be physically and mentally fit to perform the job, Dr. letter required
  • Relevant certificates and diplomas will be recognized (CSW, CYC, SW, SIVA, etc.)

The Parksville Adult Outreach Support Team is looking for an energetic, flexible, support worker to join the team. The successful candidate must be able to provide:

  • A valid first aid certificate
  • Have kitchen skills
  • Have some computer skills
  • Be physically and mentally fit to perform the job, Dr. Letter required
  • Relevant certificates and diplomas will be acknowledged (SIVA, CSW, CYC, etc.)
  • Ability to show patience and understanding is a must!!
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to best support the individual. 
There are full time and part time positions available.  Support is done primarily in the community.  Shifts could be day, evening and weekend.

Camp Leaders - Parksville, B.C.
Bonaventure Support Services is looking for energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic team members to work in the summer program. We would run Monday to Friday 9-3 pm for up to 10 weeks. Our camp would be focused on supporting youth with special needs and providing them with a safe place to be themselves. you would be a part of creating a fun and exciting program filled with : recreation, life skills, social opportunities and making wonderful memories. There may be some personal care required depending on our participants. if you have worked with vulnerable youth and/or adults, hold a CYC,CSW,EA,ECE with a special needs certificate, diploma, degree OR are passionate about supporting youth and wish to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
